BLACKBOARD 6 MIGRATION UPDATE
Traditional Campus BlackBoard Server (http://blackboard.umaryland.edu)
Blackboard version 6.1 Migration - successfully completed during the weekend of August 6, 2004.
The old Traditional Server (running version 5.5) can still be accessed via http://bb5.umaryland.edu; however, these old servers will be used for other purposes and therefore, will not be available indefinitely.
Known Migration Issues:

Creating Tests - Users can create tests, but after adding the last question - BBv6 indicates “Error Message” | BlackBoard has been notified and issue has been resolved. |

Question Pools – Some users have reported being unable to reorder the sequence or use keywords for searches | BlackBoard has been notified |
Chat Archives |

BBv5 Archives did not migrate to BBv6 | If needed, users will have to print BBv5 archives for each course |
Missing Courses |

Some users reported missing courses in BBv6. | Users should verify their courses and notify the ASC Helpdesk if courses need to be created |
BB Technical Support Teleconference Call:
Brent Nickles arranged a teleconference call with BB technical support so that committee members could ask specific questions regarding BBv6, such as:
- • Roles – TAs have limited capabilities now. However, roles be modified at the BB Administrator Level
- Discussion Board – Are discussion threads still copied when a course is copied?
- Assignment Manager – Do you have to attach a document in order to use the Assignment Manager/
- Archive vs Course Copy – What is the preferred method?
- Virtual Classroom (Pasting URLs and using PPTs) – Is it still possible?

Continuing Education BlackBoard Server (http://ce.umaryland.edu)

Sarita Sanjoy reported that the sub-committee continues to meet to develop the eLearning website. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2004 from Noon- 1pm at the School of Medicine’s Department of Physical Therapy. (Room 219). eLearning Website sub-committee members include Shannon Tucker, Alexa Mayo, Nola Stair, Shelley Jordon, Buzz Merrick, Fran May, Lorraine Doucette, Jeff Hawk, and Dave Pitts.
