James Leoni Appointed to New AVP/Deputy CIO Post

After a very competitive recruitment, James Leoni was recently appointed the Associate Vice President and Deputy Chief Information Officer in the Center for Information Technology Services (CITS).  Jim had been serving as the Executive Director for Infrastructure Services in CITS since 2005.  He started his tenure at UMB in 1986, and over those nearly 25 years he has had the opportunity to work with individuals in the academic and administrative units of the University in his positions as systems programmer (1986-1993); manager of technical services (1993-2001); director of infrastructure services (2001-2005); and executive director of infrastructure services.  He has managed key technical and central service functions including the Campus IT Help Desk, Software Licensing Office, Directory Services & Identity Management, Enterprise Messaging, System and Server Administration, and Computer Room Operations. 

Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and a Master’s in Management from the University of Maryland University College.  Jim is looking forward to continuing to serve you and work on satisfying the IT needs of the University community.  We wish Jim much success in his new position.
