Electronic Timesheets Coming to UMB

As the latest addition to the eUMB self service offerings, a new electronic timesheet for exempt employees will be made available in the first quarter of 2010.  This new online timesheet will be available to all exempt employees via the myUMB Portal.  Employees will be able to enter their time online and route timesheets electronically to their respective supervisors for approval.  Supervisors and Payroll Reps will have the ability to approve the submitted timesheets online for all exempt employees.  Some of the benefits of the new electronic timesheets are:

  • Paper timesheets will be eliminated for exempt employees
  • Employees will be able to submit timesheets from anywhere
  • Employees will be able to view more current  leave balances from within the online timesheet
  • Rules will be enforced at time of employee data entry, leading to fewer errors
  • Holiday hours will be defaulted into timesheets for observed holidays
  • Timesheets can be submitted in advance for planned absences
  • Employees will be able to track the routing and approval of their timesheets online
  • Supervisors will no longer have to collect paper timesheets – all approval is online
  • All previously submitted electronic timesheets will be viewable online by employees, supervisors and payroll reps – there will no longer be a need to make copies
  • Payroll Reps will no longer have to do data entry for Exempt employee timesheets

While the initial implementation will include only electronic timesheets for exempt employees, future phases will include non-exempt, hourly and possibly faculty time reporting.  Online as well as classroom training will be available for all employees, supervisors and payroll reps in conjunction with the rollout of this new electronic service offering.
