IT Support for the Robert H. Smith School of Business

In the November/December timeframe, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is expected to leave the space it presently occupies in the UMB School of Nursing building for a new space in the BioPark Two building. The move will give the school more than four times the square footage it currently occupies at the SON, and will include technology-equipped classrooms, team break-out rooms, staff offices, a conference room, a computer lab and a lounge area.

One of the benefits that CITS is providing the school is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone service that will allow calls from the College Park Campus to Baltimore, and vice versa, toll free.  The new network connection will carry phone calls between the campuses utilizing 5-digit dialing.  CITS will also provide wireless connectivity and authentication as if the new center were part of the College Park campus.

The Smith School plans to begin holding part-time MBA classes in their new space in January 2010.
