Campus Moves Toward Document Management Standard
UMB has recently signed a contract with Perceptive Software which enables schools and departments to take advantage of steep discounts on ImageNow, one of the leading document imaging/management systems in the country.
The system allows the capturing of paper, faxed, e-mailed, or other electronic forms in digital formats for indexing, storage, retrieval, and workflow. A “Learning Mode” allows the software to easily integrate with almost any software application. The Accounts Payable Office is already engaged in a project to streamline their handling of documents using this product. The Office of Human Resource Services is about to begin a project that will create retrievable electronic archives of HRS records. Many other schools and departments are investigating how they might use ImageNow to improve their processes. Detailed product information is available at http://www.imagenow.com/.
CITS is committed to providing the infrastructure to run ImageNow on a central platform and to provide storage for the huge image files that we anticipate will be created. In addition, CITS will integrate the product with all enterprise applications and the Campus Directory Authentication system. Schools and departments interested in using this technology would have to purchase licenses (at a discount) and scanners for capturing paper documents.
