UM shuttle/Information Desk Attendants

The UM shuttle/Information Desk Attendants will assist with greeting, directing, and communicating with students, faculty/staff and visitors on the first floor of the SMC Campus Center. Info Desk Attendants will also answer phone calls and questions about the UM Shuttle. This position is part time and is 5-20 hours a week. Multiple positions are available. The operating hours of the Information desk are Monday-Thursday from 6 a.m.-11p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Attendants will also have the option to pick up flexible office hours in the Office of Student Communications.

Scope of Duties

  • Answer the phone and address general questions about the UM shuttle
  • Greet, direct, and communicate with students, faculty/staff and visitors
  • Know the day's schedule of events and be able to verbally guide patrons to their desired locations or programs
  • Learn the UM shuttle routes and be able to answer questions and give directions
  • Complete safety rounds
  • Report usage statistics
  • Attend mandatory training
  • Help maintain and monitor the SMC Campus Center Bulletin Board
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous customer service background a plus
  • Comfortable with greeting and welcoming students, faculty, staff, and guests
  • Knowledge of the University and the surrounding area
  • Good communicator, articulate, and approachable 

Knowledge and skills derived from experience:

  • Learn to promote CLS programs and activities
  • Gain a high level of knowledge about University departments and programs
