Novel mechanisms of pain processing

Joel D. Greenspan, PhD, chair and professor, and Ronald Dubner, DDS, PhD, professor emeritus, both from the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, co-authored an original scientific paper titled “Epiregulin and EGFR Interactions are Involved in Pain Processing,” which appeared in the Journal of Clinical Investigation in September 2017. This paper reports on an interdisciplinary and multinational collaborative project that revealed a novel molecular mechanism responsible for modulating nervous system processing related to pain.
