Template Overview and Usage
There are two templates from section fronts: one with two columns of links and one column of related information, and one with three columns of links only. The template with two columns of links and one column of related information is the preferred template. These templates are only to be used on pages representing the top tier navigation items in the University's navigation (About UM, Offices, Schools, etc...).
The use of both templates requires basic knowledge of HTML as the columned style of links cannot be created within the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor in SiteExecutive without using an unsemantic coding style. These are the only templates that require knowledge of HTML code.
Two columns of links
This template is the preferred version. The right-hand sidebar that contains related information is a module in the template and must be specified on a the folder level, while the columned links are contained within the page content of the specific section front's index.html page.
Columned Links HTML structure
To create the columned links, it is required to use the source code editor in Site Executive. The columned links are contained within an unordered list. Each list item contains one columned link using the following format:
<li> <p><!--<img src="URL">--><a href="URL">Sub-site Title</a><br /> Description Text.</p> </li>
It is preferred that only the Sub-site Title and Description text be used; however there is the option to include a thumbnail by simply uncommenting the image tag. The thumbnail size is 60 x 60 pixels. For information about creating and optimizing web images, please see our images style guide.
Three columns of links
If there is no "related information" that can be displayed in the right-hand column, this template may be used. Similar to the two column of links template, the columned links are contained within the page content of the specific section front's index.html page. The same code structure of the columned links is used for this template as is used for the two columns of links template.
