| Choosing a Mentor for Thesis Dissertation Work By the second year in the program, you should have selected a research advisor from the required three laboratory rotations. Your advisor must be a graduate faculty member of the Combined Ph.D. Program in Biochemistry either at the UMB or UMBC campus, or, under special circumstances, a faculty member of the Membrane Biology Training Program or a faculty member of the Interdepartmental Training Program in Muscle Biology. It is important that when choosing an advisor he or she is financially able to support you, beginning your second year through the completion of your research project. However, students are urged to apply for funds through predoctoral grants offered by the NIH and other agencies. Once you have chosen an advisor, you will need to form your advisory committee. | ||
