Intercampus Biochemistry Doctoral Program

M.D./Ph.D. Program

Requirements
Second-year medical students considering the program must make formal application as required for all standard doctoral applicants.

If accepted into the program, M.D./Ph.D. students embark upon a modified course curriculum due to their extensive medical school course work. These modifications are listed below.

M.D./Ph.D. students are only required to do two lab rotations within the Program. If you have had a year of prior research experience and/or if you have completed other rotations in the M.D. Program, you may be exempt from one rotation requirement at the discretion of the Governing Committee.

M.D./Ph.D. students are only required to take three core courses instead of four, plus the related field course for a total of four advanced courses fulfilling the Ph.D. credit requirements. Any exceptions to this will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

M.D./Ph.D. students are only required to take one year of seminar including one each at the Fall and Spring Sessions (i.e., not two Spring sessions or two Fall sessions).
