Erik Roskes, M.D.

RoskesErik Roskes, M.D. is presently Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Surgery (Emergency Medicine) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He was recently appointed Chief Psychiatrist in the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, a position to be jointly funded by corrections and the Mental Hygiene Administration. He has a strong background in community and forensic psychiatry, and continues to work with a group of mentally ill offenders in one of the community mental health clinics affiliated with the University of Maryland. In this latter work, he has formed a solid collaborative relationship with a United States Probation Officer and together, they have developed a clinical and public safety model appropriate to their shared clients. As previous medical director of Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc., he interacts frequently with judges and law enforcement officials and provided ongoing education to correctional personnel and police on behavioral assessment and intervention. Dr. Roskes serves as the Director of Clinical Services at the Center.
