Membership Services The Department of Recreation & Wellness Services is committed to enriching the academic experience as well as encouraging the physical, mindful, cultural, spiritual, emotional, and social development of the University community. Access to the department's main recreational facility, the University Athletic Center, requires membership. Currently enrolled UMB students are automatic members because the membership dues are a part of the student fee structure at UMB. General info about University Athletic Center Membership - Current UMB Students are FREE.
- Membership is required for University staff, faculty, alumni, and UMB affiliates & partners. See Membership Eligibility.
- Memberships are NOT available to the general public
- The University Athletic Center will permanently close on June 25, 2008. All memberships here end at that time.
- Memberships DO NOT transfer from the current facility to either of the two new campus facilities that open in July 2008 (BioPark Fitness Center) and in July 2009 (Campus Center).
What does membership INCLUDE - Access to the University Athletic Center only.
- Discounts on various programs, classes, and special events.
- Access to play in the UMB intramural sports leagues. (Each sport may have an additional fee for members and students to participate depending on location).
- Sports equipment check-out.
What does membership NOT INCLUDE - The current philosophy of the department is to allow individuals an ala carte approach to basic services and amenities provided. This allows us to keep basic membership at a nominal rate. As such towels, lockers, and most instructor lead programs have an additional fee. See UAC Services.
- Access to either the BioPark Fitness Center or the Campus Center Recreational Facilities. New membership contracts will be required at each.
