All too often we mistakenly only consider physical health when determining whether someone is well. We view a person is well if they are free of illness or disease. However, wellness has several components and it is often depicted as a wheel with several spokes. These areas, within the spokes, complement and interact with each other. When one area is strong it positively affects the other areas, whereas, if one of the areas is weak or neglected, the wheel will be off balance and run off course. Therefore, the wellness wheel is used as a reference for balancing our overall health/well-being. Wellness Wednesdays are designed to encourage students and staff to develop and maintain a balanced approached to life. Through a variety of activities (active and passive), Wellness Wednesdays will provide programs to not only promote a healthy lifestyle, but to foster a sense of well-being in all areas of life.
